The call will open as soon as the host edition is confirmed. You are welcome to introduce yourself now.
The festival welcomes researchers, practitioners and enthusiasts who wish to show their work to the public, preferably from the region of the edition.
Who can apply
- Amateurs and self-taught people.
- Community labs and fab labs.
- Students.
- Researchers, from the public and private sectors.
- Everyone applies on an equal footing, with or without a degree.
What we are looking for
- Only work based on ingredients of natural origin is accepted, not on synthetic molecules. You can then transform them methodically to develop new approaches. Nothing is presented as a treatment.
- Open methods that you can explain simply.
- Curiosity and a wish to share.
- A safe practice, with suitable equipment.
- A link with the Medicine Buddha’s themes: care, healing and clarity.
What you receive
- A place on stage and a demonstration table.
- Your travel and accommodation, covered if the edition’s funding allows.
- Your name and your work credited in the programme and the festival’s materials.
- Meetings with laboratories, universities, artists and a curious public.
Your commitments
- Follow the festival’s ethics and safety charter, including its biosafety rules.
- Declare your interests.
The demonstration rules are in the Ethics and safety charter.
How work is reviewed
Every work is read in the same way, with or without a degree, using a grid written in advance.
- Your work is broken down into items: each ingredient, each process (for example ultrasound) and each combination.
- Each item is shown with its sources and the current state of research: Established, Plausible or Hypothesis. This describes what is known today, not the value of your work.
- Safety: bleeding risk, effects on hormones, interactions with medicines, product quality.
- Legality: no banned or prescription-only products, no medical acts, consent and ethics if other people are involved.
- Independent scientific reading: the reviewer declares their interests and does not review a work they are linked to.
- Answer: can be presented, can be presented after a few clarifications (listed), or not for this edition, with a private report and a short public summary reviewed with you.
What to send
Fill in the applicant file: your work item by item, your sources, your observations (presented as your own experience), your precautions, your interests, your consent and what you would like to present. Your information remains confidential.
